Some support for Holloway

I’m of the opinion that Ian Holloway should do whats best for his team and if that means wholesale changes for a match so be it

A couple of facts the FA need to consider before coming down on him

a) The team he fielded against Villa had by far the most Premiership experience in total of any side Blackpool have put out this season. Even taking out Jason Euell’s almost 200 starts, the side had more experience than that of the 11 starting both the game before and after. In contrast, when Wolves were fined (suspended) for their outing at Man U last year, they sent out a starting lineup with only 135 total previous EPL starts against 370+ for the 2 games played either side of that one

b) Blackpool put up a great effort, only conceding the winning goal in the 89th minute. Would the FA be considering this case if ‘pool had drawn? As it is, they scored 2 goals at Villa park which is more than 75% of visiting teams have managed in EPL history. Villa had also only conceded 1 goal in 5 games at home this season before the encounter

Hat Tricks

Hat-Tricks are the grand-slam of football with only about 3% of games having one. It’s almost a given that it results in a team win with the overall record at time of publication 204-5-9. Interestingly, two of Matt Le Tissier’s four triples ended with Southanpton losing 4-3

The table below shows the number of different players each team have had score at least one hat-trick for them. Click on the graph bars to change teams in the grid.

Three players, Sheringham, Anelka and Les Ferdinand figure on 3 different clubs
