Last Team Standing

With sloppy play and the Rooney saga ongoing, Man U have little to be happy about this season. However, with Fulham’s loss at the weekend, they are the only undefeated team in the EPL this season

It is the fourth time Man U have led in this category and they ended up winning the championship on 2 of the other 3 occasions. Arsenal lead the way with 5 such starts, including their unbeaten, 2003/4 season

Headers heading up?

I twitted the other day about how – albeit on a small sample – the percent of headed goals was the highest ever in 19 years

At the time of writing, no one team has had more than three whilst Man City and Blackpool, with a combined 20 goals have yet to record one

Kenwyne Jones leads with 3  but of those on 2 is the amazing 5′ 10″ Tim Cahill.  His career 27 finds him in the top ten Premiership all-time, alongside Peter Crouch, 10 inches taller and with more Premier League playing time

Ryder Cup Singles

To my mind, the Ryder Cup is the single greatest sports contest in the world – apart from the minor peewee AAA baseball Ontario championships, of course

The 2010 edition was up there with the best as the spirited USA challenge just came up short

There are a couple of statistical analyses that make interesting reading, including the stroke play results of the singles

Naturally match play is different as players will attempt plays based both on the individual game status and their opponents position on each hole but there are definitely some interesting  aspects

Are West Ham going down?

With respect to West Ham starting with four defeats, there was a  comment on TV that it had happened in the Premier League six times before with half of the teams relegated
