Alan Shearer and Manchester United have been the most common subjects of the Go Figure section and the former justifies yet more coverage
His latest couple of goals see him top the current scoring lists at a rate of a goal a game, not seen since his heyday almost a decade ago (see Table). In fact, over the past two calendar years he has netted precisely fifty times, trailing only van Nistelrooy and seven clear of Henry (the only other player with forty over this time period). As the table below shows, at the age of 33 he is extending his lead over his rivals and a 100 goal margin over his closest challenger cannot be ruled out

Aston Villa 32 Wolverhampton Wanderers A fourth double for Angel. Dwight Yorke is Villa's all-time
leader in the Premierhip with eleven, the same number he posted whilst in Manchester United's colours
|
Chelsea 12 Bolton Wanderers A late own-goal ends Chelsea's run of 12 games undefeated at home and leaves Arsenal
as the only club unbeaten on their own turf this season
|
Leeds United 32 Fulham Quite a turn round this season for Lee Clark
After just sixteen games, he has played over 200 minutes more than the past two seasons combined and is just one of a couple of Premiership players not
goalkeepers or defenders to have played every minute this year
|
Leicester City 02 Birmingham City The 29th occasion on which two players from the same side have been dismissed
The only other occasion it has happened in 2003/4, Leicester were also the culprits. Coventry's Paul Williams is the only player to have taken an early
bath twice with team-mates, Gary Breen and Richard Shaw

Liverpool 12 Southampton Defeat next week and manager Houllier's recoed
will be no better than that of Roy Evans
|
Manchester United 31 Manchester City The fifth time by United - and 26th overall - that one side has scored with three or more headers in a game. Surprisingly, Leicester also jointly-top this category
|
Middlesbrough 00 Charlton Athletic One minute in to their next game, Middlesbrough will top the 700 minute mark for shut-out Premiership football, trailing only
Arsenal (823) and Everton (735) on the all-time list
|
Newcastle United 40 Tottenham Hotspur Robert's strikes rightly took the plaudits for artistry and he is the
first Newcastle player to register a pair of goals and assists in a game since Peter Beardsley more than a decade ago,
However, Shearer can never be kept out of the limelight More...

Portsmouth 12 Everton With almost eighteen more months before he turns twenty, Rooney
is a virtual lock to set a record for most booked teenager. With 12 yellow cards and a dismissal, he trails just Michael Ball and Alan Smith
who each picked up 14 cautions by that age
