Two years ago, the preponderance of away wins warranted a Go Figure article and a similar situation applies today.
As can be seen from the updated table, 2001/2 did prove to be an exceptional season, with three teams achieving more success on their travels whilst another, Leeds, sported an identical (9/6/4) record home and away
The situation reverted to the historical norm last year with Leeds the closest to repeating the feat with 24 points at Elland Road and one less aaway from home. However, albeit early on, this season is lining up to be another record with eight clubs at or below parity. In spite of their recent win at the Valley, Charlton lead the way with 13 of their 21 points garnered away from home.More analysis may be required but it is possible that the leading teams are becoming more dominant and winning games away from home that they would normally have been satisfied to draw
